To Keep A Burglar Out, Think Like A Burglar!

November 7, 2011

When looking for a home to break into, burglars often prefer an easy target that looks vulnerable rather than one that appears to have a monitored security system in place.

Put yourself in the shoes of a burglar and think like a burglar. If you were a burglar, which house would you pick: the one with security signage or the one without?

One of the easiest ways to protect your home from a break-in is to provide a visible deterrent for burglars. Home security signage, combined with an up-todate Alarm Permit sticker, is an excellent way to do just that. It will provide you with peace of mind knowing that your house is much less desirable to a burglar.

Yard signs indicating that you have a monitored security system in place can be an incredibly effective deterrent for burglars. Statistics indicate that your chance of a break-in goes down by 400% when you have a monitored security system installed and signage advertising that your system is monitored. Prominently displaying your alarm permit sticker is another hint for the burglar that breaking into your home might not be a good idea.

A potential burglar is unable to tell whether your home is actually protected by a monitored security system or whether the signs themselves are the only form of protection. However, surveys of convicted thieves show that most burglars would avoid a home marked with a home security sign simply because they do not want to take the chance of setting off an alarm system and getting caught.

Keep in mind that security signage works best when used in conjunction with a monitored security system. With the advancement in technology, keeping your home safe has never been more affordable.

If you don’t have a security system, if your current system is not monitored or if you are not happy with your current security provider, call me for a free, no-obligation consultation. You will be glad you did!
